Moderation

The goal of TVG Community moderation is to keep the forums enjoyable and free from problems that detract from the experience of others. We make many judgment calls daily on behalf of the Community and we strive to treat all members fairly and equally under the community rules.

The point of moderation is not to limit discussion or promote any specific agenda. But TVG Community moderators do reserve the right to edit, move, lock, or delete any post that we deem to be inappropriate or disruptive to the Community or ban any member at our sole discretion.

TVG Community moderators do our best to read all threads or posts a day. However, we hope to rely upon Community members like you to utilize the "Flag for a Moderator" button available under the Options drop down menu within every post. This is to alert us to questionable (though not necessarily abusive) posting behavior.

Your moderating team for the Community is:

        Administrators:

                Administrator Splinter

                Administrator remz

                Administrator kanter

        Moderators:

                Moderator Dany_s

Moderation Questions or Complaints

Moderators are people too. But please do not assume "it's personal" or I'm being singled out" if your posts require moderator action. While we take all complaints seriously, stirring up the public outcry within the Community is disruptive.

Warnings and Bans

Warnings may be issued within the forums, via a Private Message (if the member has not disabled receipt of Private Messages), or via email. Warnings and bans remain in effect even if a Community member doesn’t receive, read, acknowledge, or agree with the reasons behind them. A member’s entire Community history is considered when levying long-term or permanent bans. If you receive a ban, an explanatory message will appear when you try to access the forums.

Privacy

Forum discipline is handled privately. When discussing warnings or bans with an individual Community member, we will not discuss, compare, or contrast the actions of other members. Members are given warnings or banned for only one reason--rules violations.

The TVG Community Moderators reserve the right to edit, move, lock, or delete any message(s) that we deem to be inappropriate or disruptive to the community or ban any user at our sole discretion. If you have a question or comment regarding a Moderator action, please bring it to the attention of a member of the Moderation Team via the Forums Messenger.

Tagging

Who can tag?

All users can tag.

What is a tag?

A tag is a single keyword applied to a post that describes a topic, theme, or category of the post. Each post may have multiple tags.

What is a tag cloud?

A tag cloud displays tags used frequently within an area of a community. Tags applied frequently will appear in a larger font. A tag cloud can give you a sense of what the hot topics are in a given area.

What can I do with tags?

Tagging items helps other users discover interesting posts.  You can use tags to bookmark, categorize, or identify a post. A well chosen tag will also help other users find interesting content.

Why do people tag?

Some users will tag posts for their own convenience in finding them later. Other users enjoy helping categorize interesting posts for the benefit of the community.

What is an acceptable use of a tag?

  • Tagging to describe a topic, theme, or category.
  • Tagging to bookmark related items.
  • Tagging to categorize messages.
  • Tagging by user (ex: If Kooldac posts in a thread, you might tag his message or thread with "Kooldac", "moderator", and/or "Administrator").

What is not an acceptable use of a tag?

  • Tagging with inappropriate language.
  • Tagging with insults or tags meant to demean or belittle.
  • Tagging messages with irrelevant tags. (of, and, it, is, I, the)
  • Tagging to show agreement or disagreement.

How do I tag?

  • Navigate to an interesting or comment. When you're at a place where you can read the bottom of the message, you'll see the tag cloud below the message body.
  • Type a single-word topic into the Add Tag field. You can type more than one word at a type. Just make sure to space each tag word with a space.

Where are my tags?

Find messages you've tagged by visiting your profile and choosing the tag. You can also click on the tag on any cloud and look for the My Most Tagged Messages section.

What do I do if I find abusive or inappropriate tags?

Please click "Flag For a Moderator" under the Options drop-down menu on the message with the tag and leave a message in the field explaining why the tag(s) you feel are abusive or offensive.

How do I alter my tagging preferences?

You can alter your tagging preferences by going to the Tagging tab in your profile.

Kudos

What are Kudos?

Kudos are a way for you to give approval to content you think is helpful, well-informed, insightful, or otherwise generally valuable to the Community.

How do I give a Kudo?

There is a kudo button in every message or blog post. Simply pressing it will give a single kudo to the author. Pressing it multiple times will NOT give multiple kudos however.

kudos.jpg

Why is it good for the Community to have kudoed content?

It not only gives a "pat on the back" to the author to encourage further posting, but it also gives a way for users seeking knowledge to tell which answers have been well received by others.

When is it appropriate uses of the kudo button?

The kudo button should be used to acknowledge insightful, meaningful posts by community members. The kudo button is also appropriate to use in order to give encouragment to other posters.

When can kudo use lead to abuse?

While use of the kudo button is encouraged, it should not be used in excess. It is important to maintain the integrity of kudos and the leaderboard in the community, and over use of the button can be detrimental. Abuse can lead possible bans or other repercussions. With that in mind, here are a few examples of possible kudo abuse:

  • Kudoing all posts by a specific community member without regard to the actual content in their posts
  • Kudoing an vicious or slanderous posts about any individuals or organizations within the TVG Community
  • Soliciting  other members for kudos to improve kudo board standing
  • Creating additional accounts with the intent on giving kudos to yourself

I would like to share my thoughts on some of the races in Dubai this year.

On the Al Quoz Sprint - the horse with the most wins so far entered in the race is # 5 Our Giant with 11, and a

76% in the money finishes ( 22/29 ), # 15 Terrifc Challenge also has 11 wins so far, with a 64 % ( 21/33 ) clip. However, # 5 is owned by Sh Mohm Khalifa Al Maktoum and trained by M de Kock so I will pick # 5 over # 15.

Sh Maktoum has 3 horses in this race - # 5, # 11 & # 13 , and godolphin has 3 also - # 2, # 3 & # 7 so i think you need not go further looking for the winner of this race outside the 2, 3, 5, 7, 11 & 13.

by Stakes on 03-25-2010 07:43 AM

again, i would like to share my thoughts on the Godolphin Mile .

most number of wins - # 9 Jet Express with nine wins ( hunch play ) but with ony 44 % in the money finishes ( 17/39 ). Next is # 6 with 8 wins at 71% ( 15/21 ) owned by Sh Maktoum and trained by M de Kock.  Sh Hamdan bin Mohm al Maktoum has a horse here, # 3 at 78% ( 7/9 ). Then we have # 7 with 6 wins owned by Prince Jalawi bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, ridden by A gryder with a 75 % clip ( 9/12 ). Godolphin has two entires the possible favorite # 11 Desert Party ( 6/8 ) 75 % clip and # 12 Skysurfers ( 2/3 ) at 75 % clip. I am putting emphasis on the owners because, although they do not need the money, they want prestige. These owners spend a lot on the training of their horses, and they do not want these horses to lose, especially on the home court.  I firmly believe the winner will come from # 9, # 3, # 6 ( My top pick ), #7, and # 11 ( the favorite ).

by Stakes on 03-25-2010 07:55 AM

here i go again sharing my thoughts on the UAE Derby.

most number of wins - 4 by #7 Frozen Power 67% ( 6/9 ) owned by godolphin will be ridden by A ajtebi, the winningest rider last year at Dubai. at 4 wins also is # 9 Musir 100% ( 5/5) in the money finishes, the likely favorite, owned by who else, Sh Mohm bin Kahlika al Maktoum, trained by M de Kock, same owner of horse # 12, # 2, # 3, and # 14. Godolpin has my top pick # 5 Mendip, 3 for 3 ( 100% ) the world's top jockey rides, Dettori. But i will not single him and try to get value somewhere else. I am pretty sure the winner of this race will come from the family of Sh Al Maktoum and or Godolphin , my longshots will be #3 Raihana, # 10 Makaanah and # 2 Enak.

by Stakes on 03-25-2010 08:01 AM

on the Dubai Golden Shaheen ;

everybody is talking about Rocket Man - 100% in the money finishes ( 9/9 ) with 8 wins and 1 2nd. 121 official rating and besides i have lost a lot of money on # 8 Gayego already including last year when he lost to Big City Man while he was on the lead at post # 12. Finally, a race with only 1 official entry from the Maktoums, # 10 Mutheeb , 78% ( 7/9 ), my longshot !. Conside the frontrunners to be # 4 and # 7, then put #6 , # 8 and # 10 in the equation and i bet you will have a winnig exacta/trifecta/superfecta combination. till next time. folks......

Hello

I am doing  a test here just learning. how do you email in to the tvgeeeeeeeeee people.

by Maiden queenbee on 04-25-2010 09:11 AM

Well Pletch is at it again.  He will have 4 or 5 of the entry's is the Derby and hopefully will keep his zero record in tact.  You may speculate why that is the case, I will simply take advantage.  Did the scratch have anything to do with wanting to enter the filly?  Does this make "Lucky" the favorite, and horse that hardly lives up to his name?  Can a horse that runs on plastic in California actually win the Derby?  Can another Sunland nothing win for the second year in a row?  Will the weather be as dreadful as it was yesterday and in last year's Derby.  Stay tuned.  That is what makes this the greatest race of the year.

by bonjourvideo on 04-28-2010 04:20 AM

Appears dosage profiles of KY Derby contenders may not be "of substance" in the writings from horse racing fans and enthusiasts.  With the dosage index (DI) over 4.00 being the barometer as such (horses with numbers above the 4.00 are not considered qualified to stay in the race past the mile), it will interesting to note how this each horses' numbers corrolates to their placement in this major performance.

While American breeding programs tend to develop speed horses (those with high "brilliant" factors in their dosage profiles), there are some anxious moments as students of the system await final tally.

by stan-in-PA on 05-03-2010 10:30 AM

Did you get a chance to see NBC's broadcast (on Bravo) of Friday's Ky Oaks? I found the program unwatchable.

I think it may have set horse racing telecasts back 20 years. The host began by stating it was his first time at a race track. Then they showed a woman host picking out a dress with some fashion designer. Then they threw in a cooking contest. Totally ridiculous. I was speechless. At the same time, TVG  and other outlets were not allowed to broadcast the race live. . Really smart,  those horse racing executives.

by Claiming allenh on 05-03-2010 12:26 PM

I felt the same way about both the Oas on Bravo and NBC but my 12 year old got it right, she said dad you and I will watch ne matter what but you always say you want others to be interested in racing so TV is trying to get others involved and I have to admit my 12 yr old gave me pause and I told her she was right.
