Do you play, or should I say chase the superfecta?

Now that many tracks offer ¢.10 tickets I like to take a few stabs now and then...

I love them. I cant get rich off them, but they serve the purpose of padding my bank roll, or helping me break even for the day.

Example, Santa Anita's Last race on Sunday.

After watching a 75-1  ruin a perfect pick 4 ticket and late pick 3 ticket, I took my last $16 for the day and played a ten cent Superfect (twice).

I loved 1, 5 and 9... but I hated the 9's post and I didnt like the favorite (3) at all.

1,5 with 1,5,9, with 1,3,5,6,7,8,9,11 with the same.

$1.00 Superfecta paid $1108.40 (1-5-11-3)

I don't play them often but ocassionally I find an opportunity. Usually I don't play them unless I have both a key horse and a value horse. My best win was a little over $3,200 on a dollar that cost $24. The value horse, a first time starter, ran third at double digits in a large field.

I agree.

Its only worth it when I can beat the favorite, or have logical long **bleep**s hit the board.

play them intermittently...interesting payoffs by and large...take note that sometimes the $1 payoffs listed are more than the total pool wagered. this happens because of the 10 cent payoffs with no dollar winners possible. Maybe somebody knows why the tracks list dollar payoffs when no winners.

I love when I have a couple of stronger lonking favorites.

The way I structure my bets allows me to hit so so ¢.10 payoffs for a total wager of ¢.40, ¢.60, or ¢.80.

I played one longer odd contender(win) over the two favs(place) back to two different contenders(show) to two longshots(4th).  Costs ¢.80

I had 7 different horses on my ticket for a total of ¢.80 and hit for $72 and change. 

It's all about the way you structure your bet as to how good your profit margin is.

I have kicked myself in the azz when I had every horse but no winning ticket

nothing worse than having it, and not being able to profit off it.

The only bet I like better than the super is the penta. I wonder if the 10 cent bet would ruin the penta or help build the pool.
